'iug.pa.). A prayer engendering bodhicitta is considered a prerequisite beginning to all practice within the vajrayana. Bodhisattva (Skt., Tib. byang.chub.sems.dpa'. Dang chup sem pa]) The aspirant who takes and keeps a set of vows that focus upon the implementation of the six paramitas to liberate all sentient beings from saqtSara. The term may be used to refer to two qualitative levels. On the level of the mundane bodhisattva, the aspirant engenders bodhicitta and observes the bodhisattva vows. The transcendent bodhisattva level is that of a developed meditator who has reached the concluding stages (the ten bhiimis). Bodhisattva Vows (Tib. byang.sdom. Dang dom]) The formal set of vows which motivates the dedication of one's actions for the benefit of others. See BODHISATTVA Body of Fully Ripened Karma (Tib. rnam.smin.gyi.lus. [nam min gyi Iii]) The physical body from birth to death as sentient beings experience it, as well as the environment in which the individual finds him- or herself. Body of Habitual Tendency (Tib. rgyu.lus. [gyu Iii]) The experience of the dream, including the body perceived in the dream and the dream environment. Body of Karmic Fruition see BODY OF FULLY RIPENED KARMA Body of the Bardo Experience (Tib. yid.lus. [ye Iii]) The attachment of the mind to a n self" during the interval between dying and rebirth. Also called the mental body. Body of the Dreamer see BODY OF HABITUAL TENDENCY Buddhadharma (Skt., Tib. sang.rgyas.kyi.chos. [sang gye kyi cho]) The collected teachings (Dharma) of Buddha Sakyamuni as well as the path to enlightenment that is described therein. In this text, it can also mean the combination of the understanding of the path, the degree of maturity in that path, and the development of aspiration (bodhicitta) peculiar to each member of the sangha. Buddha Families (Tib. sang.rgyas.kyi.rigs. [sang gye kyi rik], Skt. buddhakula) Refers to the maQQala of the five sallbhogakaya buddhas who embody the transcendent wisdom that arises when the obscurations of emotional complexities are resolved.
